Berge Bleichen is both photography and a way of life. Inspired by the fading sunlight in the mountains, Sandro Livio Straube has been creating an ongoing series of images since 2015 that speak of deceleration and desaturation.
This exercise in observation, looking through the camera lens, involves an examination of transience, the vulnerability of all living beings, and the fragility of the environment created by humans. The black-and-white and colour photographs from the Val Lumnezia valley in the Alps bear witness to a fulfilled present that reveals the beauty of things in their own right. The three texts shed light on various aspects of this photographic work, with passages in Romansh and Swiss German also conveying something of the attitude to life in the valley of light.
Join us for the book launch of “Berge bleichen” by Sandro Livio Straube at Galerie 94.
