The exhibition at Balgrist University Hospital shows twenty-four works by artist Daniela Droz, including some new pieces specially designed for the hospital rooms.

Daniela Droz (*1982), an artist who grew up in Bellinzona and lives in Lausanne, uses a camera and light-sensitive paper in her work to create something new: Using glass discs, mirrors and simple objects, she builds sculptures in her studio, which she photographs in different lighting or uses as templates for photograms – images that are created without a camera, with objects placed directly onto light-sensitive paper.

The art of the 20th century repeatedly focussed on essential design elements and turned towards the abstract. Daniela Droz picks up on this tradition by transforming simple objects into abstract geometric forms, thereby posing fundamental questions about human perception.
