Organised to mark the publication of the latest issue of the journal “Transbordeur. Photographie, histoire, société”, this round table is dedicated to the many connections between photography and ecology since the end of the 19th century. The event will be held in French.
This round table in French is devoted to the many links that unite photography and ecology, understood in the broadest sense of the term: as an interdisciplinary science that emerged in the 19th century, seeking a global understanding of the environment; as a political movement in favour of the quality of the environments inhabited by human beings and the preservation of the diversity of living forms, which emerged in the second half of the 20th century with the rise of environmental awareness within civil society; as a philosophical and social movement questioning the relationship between societies and their environment and the notion of ‘nature’; and lastly, in terms of the environmental impact of photographic techniques and industries.
