Martine Fougeron, After Prom: Dawn Secrets, 2022, Ackermann’s Collection
Join us for a guided tour through the exhibition «Women by Women» on Wednesday, 11 September, 17.00. The exhibition gives a glimpse into the Ackermann’s Collection, showing a selection of works by female photographers with a wide variety of themes from intimate self-portraits to documentary works.
Challenging the voyeuristic view and sexualized representations of women, the exhibited works challenge stereotypes by conveying vulnerability, capturing moments of raw emotions and unguarded presence. Through the medium of photography, the female artists tell stories, from translating their inner state into intimate (self)-portraits to creation of imaginary worlds and narratives. By framing the subjects and environments, the photographers create powerful visual narratives, underscoring the medium’s significance as a tool for expression, storytelling as well as self-empowerment.
The exhibition is on display from 10 – 13 September, open daily between 14:00-18:00, and shows, among others, works by Diane Arbus, Imogen Cunningham, Sally Mann, Brigitte Tast, Aki Norton and more.
