Fondazione Archivio fotografico Roberto Donetta
From the Archivio Roberto Donetta
In the first three decades of the 20th century, Roberto Donetta (1865-1932), photographer and travelling salesman, captured the everyday life and events that were to transform the Blenio valley. His images are striking for their extraordinary compositional quality, making them testimonies that go far beyond mere documentation and placing their author among the great photographers of his time.
In addition to various correspondence, the Archive contains more than 5000 photographic plates and 600 original prints that have been digitised and restored thanks to the support of Memoriav and can be consulted at www.archiviodonetta.ch.
5000 contact prints of the plates, made by the photographer Alberto Flammer, have also been classified by subject and can be consulted on exhibition days.
