Sandro Livio Straube: diffus

The French word “diffus” describes the blurred and approximate, the moulded by light and shadow. These pictures capture moments that are not characterised by their clarity, but by their poetic indeterminacy. The aim is not to photograph new things, but to see the familiar in a new light. In “diffus”, Straube questions the concreteness of things and moments by emphasising blurriness and uncertainty. This series is, as it were, an invitation to look at familiar landscapes and objects in a different light. It is a poetic search for the essential in the unclear and for beauty in the twilight.

The series “diffus” complements and expands on the themes of “Berge bleichen”. While “Berge bleichen” captures the harsh, pale landscapes of Val Lumnezia, “diffus” explores the more subtle, fleeting aspects of this environment. It is a meditation on light and its ability to transform reality into something fleeting and mysterious. Straube invites us to pause and discover the beauty in ambiguity and incompleteness. In this exhibition, earlier paintings from the “Berge bleichen” series meet new works from “diffus”. This juxtaposition allows viewers to experience the artist’s development and expanded perspective – from the objects and structures of the first series to the soft, atmospheric compositions of “diffus”.
