A work whose current state reveals traces of earlier versions.
An exhibition by Laurence Piaget-Dubuis.
An exhibition offering a fragmented dialogue between several voices: those of two women—both photographers, separated by more than thirty years of absence.
This transgenerational exchange between images and words opens up a vertical space between what has been silenced and buried, and what is gradually resurfacing. The photographs become indicators—beacons in the frozen snow of memory.
In 2017, upon the death of her mother, Laurence Piaget-Dubuis received three boxes of documents and photographs. From these archives emerged a reading of images mirroring the alpine landscape she has been exploring since childhood. An autofiction carried by the highs and lows of history, both personal and collective.
Like a palimpsest, layers of memory gradually reappear — forgotten faces, familiar places, vague memories, a narrative : shifting, discontinuous, eroded by time like a moraine that can be read in the landscape.
